Hello, I am Stephen Blaney and Spears Blaney finds people for businesses.
As a firm we are small and flexible in our method of operation, always tailoring what we do to our clients' individual needs.
Our aim is to help solve management recruitment problems in the most effective way and we seek to identify candidates through whatever approach is likely to prove most successful. We advertise and use job boards when appropriate, but if a job needs someone from a specific field then researching that particular market and subsequently making contact with target individuals - headhunting - is usually the most efficient way to progress.
This active approach to finding people is not confined to top jobs and is not necessarily expensive. If the field of search can be identified closely enough then it can cost less than advertising. In addition the research often throws up market information which can prove useful.
We work across all areas of industry and commerce and are deliberately non-specialist in order to minimise conflicts of interest. Before establishing this business in 1998, I had spent 11 years in recruitment consultancy, advertising selection based with what was then Coopers & Lybrand and high level executive search with the former Whitehead Mann, covering all types of management and board positions.
Research support is networked and includes the resources of Capita Research.
In association with our principal business we help companies in areas like organisation review, management assessment and job definition. And we offer services to individuals ranging from preparing appropriate CVs to comprehensive help on addressing the job market and determining career direction.
In general, we work for a fixed fee, agreed in advance and based on our estimate of the time involved, rather than any arbitrary percentage of salary.
